Socrative Review

Features:  Socrative is a platform teachers can use to assess student understanding of content quickly, and then be able to respond to that information immediately.  Quizzes can be quickly created and uploaded, and short check-ins can also be done with immediate feedback for the teacher.  Students need to have their own device to participate in the quizzes, but Socrative is available on laptops in all browsers, as well as in app form for Android and iOS devices, so handheld devices can be used but are not required.  Students get immediate feedback during the quizzes because the answer will turn green if it is correct, and red if incorrect, which is valuable in itself.  Assessments can be printed out as a record of progress or to share with parents.

Classroom Use:  I am reviewing this tool with a K-2 class in mind, and for that reason there may be limits to the amount of classroom use one would want to get out of this tool.  If quizzes can be created with picture clues then I may use this for some basic math (geometry) and maybe letter id checks, but lengthier questions and quizzes would not be appropriate at that level.  In and older elementary class, I think this would be very useful on a daily basis, especially in math and the content areas.

Ranking:  Socrative earned a score of 25/30, would makes this an acceptable platform to use, but not one of high priority.
