Instagram has become a very popular picture, video, message tool. It also allows for comments and likes. There are not groups but there are followers. It is a relatively easy app and relatively quick to learn.
I see Instagram as a tool to promote education. Because of the popularity of Instagram, several parents, students, and teachers use the app. This would be a relatively easy way to share the learning happening in the classroom and promote the school. I also feel it would be a good way to gather information as students are out of the classroom. It could also be used to snap pictures of what was written on the board and shared. There is also the possibility of following famous people and experts in the field.
