Communication Tools Evaluation Rubrics

Working collaboratively in a virtual environment is a critical skill for 21st century students to practice and gain experience with.  During this module you will have a chance to practice these skills.  The Internet is full of communication tools, and new ones are being added every day.  The challenge that we have as classroom teachers is to be able to evaluate which tools are effective and are going to engage our students in meaningful activities.  In this module you will work with a group of students to create an evaluation rubric for communication tools.  The goal of your group is develop a list of characteristics and the criteria which you will use to develop a rubric for gauging the effectiveness of communication tools.

  • Work virtually with your group.  Please email your professor with the date, time, and virtual location of each meeting.
  • Develop a rubric with a list of characteristics and criteria that an effective communication tool has.
  • Each team member will publish the group rubric to their own blog.  Please email your professor when each group member has published the team rubric.

Below are the four rubrics that were created by students in EDU 568 at UMF during the fall of 2014.
